It’s hit or miss here. My doc is fantastic, while my son’s doc does not seem to grasp or actually listen to what he has going on. This is my son’s 2nd psychiatrist as an adult with ADHD autism, probably 5th or 6th in his life. Once again, he feels as if he is being blown off. I just had who I presume is the office manager explain to me that my son has to discuss changing psychiatrists with the psychiatrist that he is uncomfortable with. Why? Why is that doctor the lord or my son’s decision to switch doctors? He struggles with existing. Yet this office manager proceeds to explain to me what’s best for my adult son to me… as if I’ve not heard it all before. It was infuriating and condescending. “I am not new to this, Karen.” We come here to be heard, to get actual treatment based on actual symptoms. I understand this is a teaching group. I speak for my son because he simply cannot articulate without getting extremely agitated…. But ok, yes, Dr. Office Manager gave me sage advice because I’m super new to dealing with my son and his lifelong multiple diagnoses. To appease her office policies, I’ll go ahead and push my kid to continue to face his extreme fear of elevators, heights, etc etc etc because he’s not freaked out enough just existing… (I push him every day to simply get out of bed or brush his teeth or shower, but I’m sure he just needs to learn to do these things on his own…oh wait… that doesn’t work for him because he is AUTISTIC with ADHD with persistent depression disorder and paralyzed with grief). Just another name on a piece of paper it seems, a guinea pig for a resident to throw pills at.
Dr. Dela Cruz is A++++. I cannot say the same for my sons doc. Back to the hunt for someone who will listen to him and actually see how ill he is and want to treat it.

I was very nervous going in since this is my 3rd psychiatrist. I was also worried how it would be since it is a learning center. The staff at the front desk were very nice and down to earth. My doctor listened to everything I had to say and you could tell she was extremely engaged. She covered everything and even made a treatment plan that works best for me! I have never been treated with such compassion in the past. Hands down the best office in the area! These guys really know what they're doing!

Dr. Pilat is first rate. He has the latest knowledge in the treatment of psych issues. He gave me ample time since this was my first appointment. He had a treatment regimen in mind for my unique situation. His clarity around me as the patient was very reassuring.
