If you are looking to be listened to and get actual help this isn’t the place, specifically Ethan and his nurse are not the people. I had two appointments canceled by the office due to very understandable circumstances, once he or his kid was sick and the second was the office closed. No biggie, make a new appointment. Now I was trying to get seen for two chronic issues I’ve been dealing with since I was a kid, and this was my first time having a regular pcp I was allowed to see. I sent a message explaining my issues were severely affecting my day to day and if they could I’d really appreciate being seen earlier and they did. Ethan came in early even, I was so grateful and it gave me such high hopes. Well before he comes in his nurse wishes him luck with me, not even trying to be quiet and he laughs and thanks her. So nice. Then he puts me on the same meds I told him I have been on numerous times and didn’t work for one of my issues, told me he was over-medicating me three times for what he thought to be an std when I told him uti, well fast forward and the er had to intervene and it was a uti that he UNDER medicated. Then told me that all of my joint pain I’ve been experiencing (which is all of my joints as I am hyper mobile but had no opportunity to get to tell him because he was rushing me out no questions) was just an issue with my knees. Afterwards I had asked him about medications in relation to lithium that I take, and prescribed me meds that could have caused lithium toxicity. He put in zero effort or research and could have caused a lawsuit. I had really high hopes at first but this office has left me feeling worse than when I arrived, and dehumanized. I hope Ethan and his nurse learn some basic human respect, and if you want to be listened to and have a doctor that cares about your health this isn’t the office, and Ethan is not the doctor.

One of the worst offices. Dr Hassan is never on time. The last 4 times I have seen her the shortest I have waited after being put in the room is 45 minutes. Most of the time it’s well over an hour and the nurse staff just stare at you blankly when you ask if they know what’s happening. I take my lunch break to do doctor appointments I can’t wait an hour and half to be seen by a doctor for her to spend 5 minutes in the room so she can refill my prescriptions.

I'm going to be honest but I don't feel like I'm being heard enough when I go into my appointment. I let the primary care doctor know that I was only there for one reason and that is to get a referral for an orthopedic surgeon. I have severe ongoing issues and I was dismissed when I brought an MRI report read by an out of state radiologist. I used to brought in several of my medical records of which some of them listed that I was dealing with these issues. Although I got treatment for my hypertension and had Labs worked on me I pointed out that my sole purpose was to try to get a referral for an orthopedic surgeon. The doctor didn't spend enough time asking me about my symptoms and only read the report and stated that if she had to scan everybody in the building that they would also be presenting minimal issues that I am facing and that it's normal! Nonetheless I waited a few days and I set up my first appointment with physical therapy because she sent the referral. She stated that if I were to go to an orthopedic surgeon he or she would do no different than what she as the primary care is doing. In the past years that I've seen many physicians in healthcare, a few of those were orthopedic surgeons who didn't mind me being their patient and working alongside with my primary care physicians. Why does this doctor have a problem doing that I also reminded her that I needed a referral for orthopedic surgeon and she wants to wait until my next appointment which is 2 weeks from now. Yeah it looks like I'm going to be switching care!!

If it wasn't such a hassle to find a new dr, I would've left long ago. I had an appt Nov 25 specifically to get more refills on a VITAL medication. So on Dec 7th, when I ran out of pills, I sent a refill request to my pharmacy. Went to pick them up, only to be told I had no refills. Why, in nearly 2 weeks had they not renewed my prescriptions? I spent the weekend sick, high bp, heart racing. I had to leave work. This office has shown me time and again that they actually don't care about my health. Do not come to this office.

I really don’t know why their rating is only 3.3. Ethan was the first doctor where I felt listened to and actually cared. I didn’t feel rushed in and out. Prior doctors made me feel like a dollar sign and I feel completely different here. Extremely thorough evaluations which is very much needed in healthcare. I do wish my patient portal said my blood type. I may be missing it but I don’t seem to see it on there. Have recommended this office to many people. Great healthcare in my opinion.

Don’t do it friend. Please don’t do it!!!
I went here the other day to get swabbed for strep. I had all the symptoms of strep and was told it was something viral. I had to BEG the receptionist to give me a doctors note allowing me to miss the next day at work since the doctor wouldn’t write me one. She had to ask him if it was okay and he said yes. I still wasn’t feeling like myself the next day I went back like 10 minutes before they were closed. Just wanting to ask the doctor a few questions and the receptionist rudely did the “cut throat” hand signal towards me with a disgusted look on her face. I asked her to come to the door I just wanted to talk. I told her I understand they were closed but I wanted to ask if she knew of any other clinics in town and expressed that the doctor sent me home with no medication the day before and that I felt even worst that day. She didn’t care. Next day I went to SIH CENTER FOR MEDICAL ARTS and they diagnosed me with having strep even though the test failed. The doctor mentioned that I had all the symptoms of strep so she was going to treat me still. I’m so grateful. Why is it so hard to get a dentist appointment? I think I’ve been told they are not taking customers for the last 5 years. And any time my son needs shots they poke him multiple times instead of just once. Just bad service and they especially don’t like you if you’re a Medicaid recipient.

The doctor/nurse got back to me with the results and the strep test was negative. I was told what I had was something viral. I’m not a doctor and have never been to medical school so I try to trust what doctors and staff tell me. I still felt very unwell and didn’t think it was right to return to work the next day. I work with children. I had to BEG the receptionist to give me a doctors note allowing me to miss the next day at work since the doctor wouldn’t write me one for 2 days so I could get well. She had to ask him if it was okay and he said yes for 1 day. I still wasn’t feeling like myself the next day I went back to Shawnee about 10 minutes before they were closed. I was wanting to ask the doctor a few questions and the receptionist rudely auto locked the door from the inside, looked at me through the glass, & did the “cut throat” hand signal towards me with a disgusted look on her face. I asked her to come to the door I just wanted to talk. I told her I understand they were closed but I wanted to ask if she knew of any other clinics in town and expressed that the doctor sent me home with no medication or anything to help with the pain I was experiencing. I expressed that I felt even worst than I did before. She didn’t care she just wanted to make sure I was gone so she could be closed by 7 and go home. Valid but RUDE!!! Next day I went to SIH CENTER FOR MEDICAL ARTS and they did a strep swab which also came back negative. I’m just grateful that the doctor helping me mentioned that I had all the symptoms of strep so she was going to treat me still BECAUSE SHE BELIEVED THAT I HAD STREP. Well wouldn’t ya know?! She mentioned that the tests they have are about 40% accurate. I’m so grateful that I trusted my intuition and didn’t go to work because I would’ve possibly gotten kids or other staff members sick. I spent 4 solid days in pain and agony with body aches, fever, and not being able to eat or swallow anything. If it weren’t for that doctor from SIH prescribing me antibiotics I would still be shaking in pain and miserable. I’ve heard that untreated strep can lead to a lot of health related issues with kidney’s and heart. I’m not a perfect person by any means but I at least try to listen to people and make them feel heard or help them to the best of my abilities when I can. I liked going to the same day up until this happened. Also, why is it so hard to get a dentist appointment at Shawnee? I think I’ve been told they are not taking customers for the last 5 years. And any time my son needs shots they poke him multiple times instead of just once. But I love the counselors who work there they are GREAT!!!

Every single person here is extremely friendly, caring, helpful, and provides excellent care. Dr. Hassan is my PCP and she’s absolutely amazing! But don’t get me wrong, the front desk staff, nurses, and phlebotomists are all awesome as well. They’ll always get you taken care of. I’ve been to the same-day clinic too, and the nurse practitioner was very friendly and was a helpful, painless visit. I’ve probably been to every urgent care in town, and Shawnee’s was the best by a long shot, in my opinion. I wish every medical facility was like Shawnee.
