My experience has been mixed. Was this agency as adolescent from 2005 - 2009 and came back to agency in 2015. It took awhile and lot hurt from previous clinicians to find the one I currently have now. It also took awhile for him to earn my trust.

August will be 3 three years with my current therapist and couldn’t give him enough praise. Brendan is the therapist best I’ve worked.

I had a bad experience with two staff members. There is usually a behavioral health lady that talks to you after you complete a mental health assessment. I don’t know her name but she is heavy set and has dark hair. Every time I speak to her she’s very rude and unwelcoming to me. There was a time after I was suicidal where she came to speak to me and she got angry that I was not making direct eye contact with her. I had just gone through a very Traumatic experience and had social anxiety. You would think someone that works in mental health will understand that I’m not in the mood to make direct eye. I was scared and ashamed to discuss my emotions. She got defensive and raised her voice saying “LOOK AT ME!” and I almost started crying. I am a non confrontational person. So I didn’t say any anything for a long time. There were other instances where I would hear her say “WHY DOESNT SHE LOOK AT ME” However her behavior has made me wary of getting any more services from Pillars. There were times when I wanted to get more help but couldn’t because i was scared to run into her. I still am a patient at this clinic and she is not the only staff member who has been rude to patients. But I really wish the board would realize that this clinic services vulnerable people. Many of us come from Poor backgrounds where no one else to go. If the staff is being hostile and unwelcoming to us, it makes us feel even more dehumanized. I would implore the staff to utilize better hospitality and common courtesy practices. Especially to people who are seeking help.

My son has been on the waiting list for more then two months now and I keep calling the receptionist and everyone she has transferred me to goes directly to voicemail. Not to mention, I left voicemails and sent emails and no one has yet called me back or reached out. This is very unprofessional! I should be able to speak to someone regarding the status on the waiting list my son was put on!
