I've been a student of Mike's for a few years now and I think he's genuinely one of the best music teachers I've ever had, and I've had a lot. He genuinely cares about his students and how they're doing and he gives so many opportunities to get out there with your music; recitals and recording songs and everything. I always struggle with keeping motivation for things, but Mike figured out how to keep me excited about my music so I don't lose my motivation for it and it's the first time I've ever had a teacher of any sort do anything like that. There have been times where I've wanted to give up on music but Mike and his passion and enjoyment of music stopped me and now I think I'm pretty good. He's my favorite teacher I've ever had and I love his lessons, I always look forward to them and I will always recommend him to people who are looking for lessons. Best teacher ever.

Mike Herndon is the best guitar teacher I have had the pleasure of working with! I found him by going down a rabbit hole of Acoustic Danzig covers. Shortly after we got in touch and fine tuned some of his songs. Mike Herndon is a professional that knows everything about guitars and is easy to work with! My son researched and found Mike and asked if he could take lessons from Mike. So we signed up and have not regretted it. Mike has been great and my son (12 yrs) has loved going to weekly lessons. He likes it so much he has now asked to up it to twice a week. He likes that Mike listens to him and takes the kind of music he likes into consideration for what they play during lessons. Michael has been a great teacher to my 8 year old daughter. In just a few short lessons she has learned to play two songs, Ode to Joy and Love Me Tender. Michael was great about recommendations for a beginner Ukulele, and additional materials that would help her to practice and learn. As a retired senior I took up playing the guitar as a hobby. I’m glad I found Mike on a random internet search for an acoustic guitar teacher. Mike is a very talented musician, guitarist and more importantly a very thoughtful, professional and passionate teacher.
Mike uses a wide variety of materials and techniques to teach new skills. Mike is open to what the student wants to learn, whether it is rock, blues, country, classical or folk. Mike’s focus is to make sure the student knows and understands how to properly strum, fingerpick and play the music of choice.
