I want to share my concerns about my recent experience with Life Stance, as I believe it's important for healthcare providers to know how their actions impact patients. After waiting 30 days for my second appointment, which was meant for testing, I learned just under 24 hours before the scheduled time—February 20 at 9:00 AM—that it was canceled. The reason given was a lack of necessary materials related to my age.
I understand that managing appointments and resources can be challenging, but I hoped that, as professionals in the field, they would have taken the time to review my profile and be prepared for my dyslexia testing well in advance. This situation has left me feeling disappointed, as communication and preparation are vital in providing respectful and compassionate care. Patients deserve to feel valued, and unfortunately, this experience did not meet that standard. I hope that by sharing this, it can contribute to improving their processes in the future.

My last 5 mins of my previous appt Endia tells me she’s leaving the practice. No warning at all. She says I will get a call to schedule. No call to schedule for 2 weeks. Finally get ahold of someone to schedule. I even cancelled my therapy so I could make her appointment. Then, in our FIRST APPT my new psych provider Patricia Brown is over 20 mins late to my first appointment while I’m in crisis. Not acceptable. Need new provider, don’t go to Patricia Brown.

I called and made an appointment with ease. I was able to schedule with someone within a week's time and who treats my specific needs. I had my appointment today. The staff was friendly, the office was cheery and clean. I was seen on time and felt at ease. I would recommend 100%!

I have been seeing Sony with Lifestance for about 7 months and he has helped me more in that time than my previous two or three providers combined. He is extremely thorough and empathetic and I feel that I actually have a say in my treatment plans. Additionally, after my prior provider left the practice, Caitlin at the Darien office was extremely helpful and supportive in helping me find a new provider, and matched me up with Sony.

My therapist, who does not work for Lifestance, recommended I take time from work due to anxiety. My company asked me to go on short term disability.

The insurance provider, New York Life, then required forms to be completed. My therapist said that her company believed a more qualified practitioner would be needed and suggested I work through LifeStance.

I found Janine Watters, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, on their site and completed an online intake - one of the questions included that this was for insurance purposes. I put in all the details I could.

During the appointment I explained to nurse Watters that this was for short term disability, that I was referred to LifeStance from my therapist, that I would complete release of information forms with both her and my therapist so that they could talk.

Nurse Watters saw that my anxiety was high and asked if I would take a prescription medication. While I would rather have not, she said it would be "as needed", so I picked up the prescription.

I told her about the forms being sent by New York Life, but she made no mention of them and it didn't seem an issue.

Several days after the appointment, I checked with New York Life who said they had sent her the forms. I also found an additional way to send the forms to her as the LifeStance patient portal has no way of adding attachments (the portal is terrible to navigate and use).

On December 21st I parted ways with my company and so my health insurance expired.

On 22nd of December, nurse Watters send me a message stating that "It is not my practice to complete forms of this nature for new patients on the first visit". She made no mention of this during the appointment, and this was 10 days after the appointment and also past the deadline for the insurance company. As I'd also parted ways with my employer and no longer had health insurance, I couldn't make an appointment (she had billed $320 for the first visit which lasted around 30 minutes).

The thing that gets me was nurse Watters had the release forms for my therapist, but I don't believe she once contacted her. My therapist had made a diagnosis, and all nurse Watters was needed for was to confirm that and complete the insurance forms.

At the end of this I ended up with medication I did not really want, no short term disability insurance payment, and higher anxiety than I went in with.

Would I recommend LifeStance or Janine Watters? Absolutely not.

Bunch of crooks. First visit the Dr did not interact with my kid. Offer 3 additional medications we didn't ask for. Asked 2x to up the one medication we did want renewed. 2nd visit had to cancel due to covid, still charged $200. Horrible company!!
