Lifestance has the least transparent billing I have ever encountered in a healthcare setting. I highly recommend going elsewhere in town for mental health services, unless you have the financial means to pay for unanticipated bills. I began going to Lifestance over the summer, where they verified my insurance and told me that I had a $0 co-pay. Because I am a student, I let Lifestance know in August that my insurance had re-set for the year, and inquired whether I would have a co-pay (same insurance, just a new billing year). The front desk verified my insurance again, and assured me that my co-pay would remain at $0. I inquired about this 2 or 3 weeks in a row, and my therapist also looked and saw that I had a $0 co pay. Now, five months after ending treatment, Lifestance sent me a several hundred dollar bill that I cannot afford to pay. Had Lifestance given me accurate information about my co-pay from the start, I would not have elected to continue with treatment because I knew I couldn't afford it. Customer service is nearly impossible to get ahold of and was entirely unhelpful. Now, because I'm a student, I'm forced to choose between paying this bill or buying food. If you do choose to go to Lifestance, do not trust any information they tell you about billing--perhaps request the information in writing as well so when they try to bill you additionally for services you have documentation of the rate they initially told you.

UPDATE: After Lifestance responded (see post below), I sent my phone number to the email address requested. I never got a reply. Their concern with "patient satisfaction" is to avoid negative online reviews, not to actually help patients.
