Copying my review here so that hopefully people know what Dr. Nance is about before they visit her.

All I wanted was a standard physical and to ask a few questions about health concerns | had, which I communicated to Dr. Nance at the beginning of my visit. Strangely, Dr. Nance then spent the entire visit talking about enneagram and meyers briggs personality tests. I told her that l don't buy into those tests, but she could not let this go. She kept asking questions about my mental heath, claiming that all my issues in life could be tied back to my personality type and fixed by tapping into my "life energy" or seeing a life coach. She said nothing to me about my physical health, she performed a breast exam and couldn't even be bothered to say "no lumps!", because she was too busy trying to get me to buy into her self-help pseudoscience. l've never had my discomfort so ignored by a medical professional before, it was like talking to an unrelenting salesperson.

She joked that people leave her bad reviews on google all the time. I’m proud to be among them now.

Dr.Nance made me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable asking me multiple times to drop my pants 5 minutes into the visit. (No gown,no preparation as to this occurring.) It felt very, very awkward and wrong and I've seen other reviews of past patients saying the same.

When told about a family history of substance use, she went on a 10 minute story about her alcoholic ex-husband. She told me she's proud of her 25 year old daughter who "pre-games (gets drunk) in the parking lot" before she goes to raves in LA, uses molly (ecstasy),and is the designated driver for her friends after.
She touted her Princeton education and all her educated friends while trying to up-sell me on tons of expensive self help work she offers. I felt like I was being sold a used car!

It took the staffer a long time to find someone that could draw my blood. This meant that I sat in a room directly next to a patient room and heard everything private being shared. The patient told the doctor the plethora of anxiety med.s she was taking, how her father had referred her, how worried she was about her health/the safety of other doctors etc.

The only thing I came for was surgical clearance/bloodwork and her staff sent me/my provider NEITHER. They literally sent me/my provider the exact same clearance form my provider gave me, zero changes. No bloodwork, no medical review, not even a doctor signature and this was after TWO failed fax attempts and TWO failed email attempts!

Kara is one of the kindest people I know and by far the kindest physician I have ever been cared for by. She takes her time to explain everything to you and makes you feel comfortable with all treatment options. She helped me drop from 187 lbs to 140 lbs in 6 months!! AND eliminate my insulin resistance. I moved out of state and STILL go to see Kara virtually AND when I travel back to her state I plan my annual appointments for when I am visiting. I love that she focuses on wellness and holistic alternatives as well. Her very modestly priced wellness classes are an amazing way to stay connected with like minded folks and stay focused on healing.

I had a very bad experience. This was my first and last time visiting her. I’m trying to find a new PCP since I don’t have one and thought I’d give her a try but it was a waste of time and money. She’s very judgemental, especially when dealing with mental illness. She made me so uncomfortable by reading me a 2-minute poem telling me I should sit in my feelings. I didn’t even ask her opinion. She’s not specialized in psychiatry. I have my own psychiatrist so I really had no need for her opinion. I felt as though she were implying that mental illness is fake and that everyone in this generation takes anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medications so they don’t have to feel anything. She then tried to sell me some type of therapy that was very expensive right after saying she isn’t a licensed therapist.

Dr. Nance is one of the very few doctors around here that will tell you nothing but the truth and the last thing she ever does is try to prescribe any type of medicine before trying to find a solution in controlling your weight. She goes in to detail with you about how being overweight can lead to major and complicated things down the road if you do not manage your weight now. What people do not like is when someone point out our problem and get offended because they tell us nothing but the truth. People get it wrong and I include myself that I initially was thinking the same thing that hey she is trying to only sell her product and when I initially said no she never treated me in a bad way. After some time I did eventually do the shakes and they did work but are they expensive not really. They are like your weekly groceries about the same amount money we spend eating out and groceries. I see it this way now when she is telling you about her products and teaching us how to eat right. I see it as someone that is giving you an option instead of just a pill and some people want the easy way and that is good for them but not here and that is why I have been going with Dr. Nance for almost 8 years and what I have noticed is that she is straight with you and she cares. A doctor that is straight forward with you and tells you how it is and tells you hey lose weight stay active, hey you need vitamins they are good for you, hey mental health is important let me give you some options that I provide, that is not a sales pitch she cares. Not once have I taken any of her classes and not once has she ever been disrespectful with me when I have refused, but I at least know that hey if I ever did need it my doctor has it. My wife now goes as well and loves the IV Treatment they provide. If you do not like the truth and are looking for a doctor that will prescribe you anything than do not come here Dr. Nance and her staff are great and there is a reason why she is always busy, she is that good.

I found Dr. Nance on ZocDoc and became aware she is licensed in bariatrics (obesity).

From the moment I sat down with Dr. Nance, she made it known to me that she had no interest in working with clients who did not enroll in her program. My session, which required a $35 copay, was scheduled to address family history and a recent elevation in my triglyceride levels. Instead, my time was spent sitting through a sales pitch for an extremely expensive and impractical "weight loss" program. To echo what a previous patient wrote in her review (a description that closely resembled my experience), this is highly inappropriate and irresponsible marketing from a primary care physician. This doctor was suggesting I pay $100 per month for access to her app, and that her pricing for meal substitutions is justified (example: she said she charges $17 per day for her snacks, and this is comparable to the cost of our Starbucks, etc. each day). All she said of my reasoning for being in was, "If you want to treat high triglycerides on your own: no carbs, no sugars, no fruit. Basically a keto diet." She then continued her sales pitch.

When it became clear to her I would not be able to afford, nor was I interested in the program at this time, she opened the door for me while still sitting down and shooed me out without so much as a 'goodbye.'

I could not help but feel throughout my entire time in this office that this was a scam. Her demeanor ending my visit before my questions and concerns were answered confirmed this. It was clear I was not serving her interests, therefore she did not want me wasting another minute of her time. I am disgusted by this physician's appalling behavior, and I have reported my experience with Dr. Nance to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Great for weight loss but not primary care. Dr Nance doesn't have the best bedside manner. I started going to her bbn practice in 2018. I first saw her partner and loved her. Dr Nance was not very friendly, and I always felt like she never looked at my chart when going there for primary care stuff. I really liked everyone who worked in the office, so I would just schedule my appointments with her nurse practitioner. When covid-19 hit, there was only Dr Nance. I did go there for the weight management component. We went through different methods to lose weight. At first, we tried the shakes, but then I could not drink them after a while, and we went with a medication. There was a nutritionist, not sure if they are still there, which was also good. I was with her for 3 years, and at the last appointment, she asked who my primary care doctor was...it was her... I decided I needed to find someone else for my pcd. I would not recommend going here for your primary care, but if you need someone for weight management, it is a great option.

I was not going to say anything but after speaking with other doctors about this visit I feel it is important.

First off, when I was getting my weight and height taken I was automatically asked if I wanted to join their “weight loss” program. I did not know this was a weight clinic when scheduling on ZocDoc but as a healthy weighted female I was kind of shocked. Not to mention, asking someone that regardless of size can be very triggering for a person. Anything titled “weight loss” instead of healthy weight management is also unhealthy to market.

Secondly, when I get into Dr. Nance’s office I explained some of my health history and how I was trying to find a new internal medicine doctor. She then proceeded to ask me about what I talk about in therapy, which is extremely inappropriate. Then, she proceeded to try and sell me on her “wellness” classes for 10 minutes and subscription to an app for $100 a month!

All together I was in shock at what I was experiencing. I then asked for an ultrasound that was recommended by my neurologist for possible gallstones seen in an MRI. She gave me the order but not after trying to persuade me not to do it because it’s probably just a “cover your ass” referral.

Needless to say, I will be tossing that order in the garbage and I encourage others not to schedule with Dr. Nance.
