I’ve always enjoyed shopping at Clothes Mentor in Villa Park, and I genuinely appreciate the selection they offer. However, there are two areas where I believe improvements could be made. First, I've noticed that on weekdays, around 6:50 to 7:15 PM ( sometimes earlier ), the doors are locked and they stop accepting customers, even though the store doesn't close until 8:00 PM and sadly this has happened multiple times. I understand that the staff may need time to clean or prepare for closing, but it would be helpful if the doors remained open at least 30 minutes before closing time and that last 30 ( around 730, if they need time to clean ) than lock the doors. Additionally, it would be great if they could post a notice, either online or at the door or both, to let customers know about this change. Secondly, I’ve had a few experiences with a staff member with red hair who hasn’t been as welcoming as I would hope. On multiple occasions, when I’ve entered the store, she hasn’t greeted me or acknowledged my presence, even though she has been friendly to other customers. Unfortunately, I’ve heard similar feedback from others at the nearby Plato’s Closet & friends that I know who shop here, which suggests that this may be a recurring issue. Despite these concerns, I still find the location to have fantastic items, and I’m hopeful that these small changes can be addressed to make the overall experience even better.

I’m so in love with this store. Everytime I shop here I find super high end brands for VERY reasonable prices. Very organized, clean, and tidy as well. They have the best inventory. Wish I could come everyday to see what new stuff they get 😂

I wanted to share my feedback regarding my recent experience at the store. I traveled from Rockford, Illinois, bringing with me some luxury items, including a Burberry leggings set and exclusive Gucci glasses. Upon my arrival, I was informed that I would receive a text message once my items were scanned in. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for this to happen. I ended up having to call for clarification on the delay.

When I finally went inside, I noticed that the staff appeared to be inexperienced with handling luxury items. The young lady who assisted me seemed to be learning on the job and had to ask her colleague for guidance. When I received their offer of $69 for my luxury items, or a store credit of $80, I was quite taken aback. While I understand that luxury items don't retain their full value, I feel the offer was significantly below market value. After checking platforms like Poshmark and eBay, I saw that similar items were selling for much more.

It seems that there should be more training for staff, especially in handling luxury goods, to ensure they understand their worth and can provide appropriate customer service. Additionally, a bit more attention to the store's upkeep would enhance the overall shopping experience. Based on my experience, I would encourage potential sellers with luxury items to consider other options. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my feedback.

I've been visiting this location since 2013 and felt compelled to leave a review after seeing its 3.5-star rating. Ignore the negative reviews—this place offers exceptional wholesale pricing on pre-owned items, especially luxury goods. Some reviewers don't seem to grasp that you won’t receive the full value of a used item, as it's a business with its own needs for profitability.

The selection is always stylish, with a great variety for different occasions. However, I find their everyday and business casual offerings particularly noteworthy. I highly recommend Clothes Mentor for anyone looking to refresh their wardrobe with unique vintage pieces or to sell statement items that aren't getting as much use as they once did.

During my first encounter, I was purchasing 2 items. A pair of shoes and a tote bag. Prior to finalizing the purchase I made sure both items were returnable, if need be. I was ensured that they were. When I was paying for the items, they entered the wrong amount of cash I had given them in and took a long time to correct it. I went back today to try and return a pair of shoes, which I was told was returnable and they denied my return saying that they never said that. If they would have told me intially, I would not have purchased the items. Very frustrating! They could’ve apologized for any miscommunication or wrong information given, but simply stated the return policy and dismissed me. They are not personable which is very disheartening.

Update: I just returned home and tried to remove the labels from the insides of the shoes. They placed an adhesive sticker on suede. The sticker is not coming off and the pieces that have, have completely ripped off the suede lining.

The store is being renovated post fire, so they're just doing buys right now. If you're like me and don't want to bother reselling myself, Clothes Mentor is a way to clean your closets of clothes & accessories you're not wearing, for fast cash. (Great condition, up to a few yrs old at most unless it's a luxury item). The sigh of disbelief comes with the realization of how little $$ you'll receive from an overflowing bin of designer fashion . Again, the effort on you (the seller) is small, yet the dollar amount you'll receive is also small - about the total of 1 or 2 of your items when they were new. Selling oneself will net about 10 times the price you'll receive from Clothes Mentor. But again, you'll work for that 10x amount.
